Photoshopped Images Warnings In France – You might soon see a picture of your favorite model with a warning next to it that reads “model not really that pretty nor that skinny” if the country which gave us Coco Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent has anything to do with it. 50 French politicians lead by Valerie Boyer (of President Nicolas Sarkozy’s UMP party) are doing all that they can to get a law in place which will force magazines billboards, and product packaging to label all of their photoshopped images with the tag “digitally enhanced”.Boyer said:
“Retouched photograph aimed at changing a person’s physical appearance.These photos can lead people to believe in a reality that does not actually exist, and have a detrimental effect on adolescents. “Many young people, particularly girls, do not know the difference between the virtual and reality, and can develop complexes from a very young age.In some cases this leads to anorexia or bulimia and very serious health problems. It’s not just a question of public health, but also a way of protecting the consumer.”
