Crystal Renn Plus Size Model on Retouched Photos – Plus-sized fashion is becoming more popular with each passing year. Crystal Renn, who formerly had an eating disorder, but now works as a plus sized model said that she was stunned after she saw how much she was slimmed down in some edited photos. She said that the photos caused her to question her body image.
The pictures were shot by Nicholas Routzen, who slimmed her down quite a bit in the editing process. There is no doubt about it, she is much skinnier in the after pictures than she was in the before.

“When I first saw the pictures, I have to say I was absolutely shocked. I think I sat in silence for a good five minutes,” Renn said. “I don’t think it’s an accurate portrayal of my body in any way. I’m a size 10, and that is more like a size 2.”

This is, however, standard practice in the modeling world. Almost every model in a magazine cover shoot has their image digitally altered before the magazine goes out for press. She wasn’t the only one who was upset by the pictures. Soon, the pictures made their way online, and were published on a number of blogs.
It appears that she was downsized in every way. Jezebel.com said that it appeared that she had been slimmed in every way, including her shoulders and hips. Renn has encouraged women to eat right, but not afraid to be big and to love their bodies.

I wanted to comment about you being in the Today Show…I was very upset how you are going around saying size 8 & 10 are plus size, what happened to average? You can’t even find size 12 in a plus size store let alone an 8. Instead of making women feel more comfortable with their bodies I think you are making them feel worse. No one wants to be labeled as plus size, and as someone who struggled with an eating disorder and now finally comfortable with her size…now as a size 10 that is plus size? At my skinniest eating less than 1000 calories a day and working out like a crazy person I was only a size 6, because that is they way my body is made. You are no better than all the other fashion people out there who make women believe size 2 & 4 is ideal and beautiful. Plus size models should be plus size, which is bigger than a size 12, because by saying a size 10 is plus size you make us feel fat. Again, what happened to average?

She doesn’t look THAT much smaller to me. She’s beautiful the way she is, but I could see the images being a result of the photographer shooting her in a slimming way.
