Should a 12 year old girl be out in public wearing a mini dresses and high heels? It is a common debate in middle schools across the United States, but now Elle Fanning and her parents have come under fire after she showed up to a recent premiere wearing a Marc Jacobs blue dress and strappy gold heels.

The premiere was for her upcoming movie, “Somewhere.” She also had a ring on to accessorize. She was looking great, but looked much older than she actually is. Elle is the sister of Twilight star Dakota Fanning, and appears to have the Hollywood game down to a tee.

She wore the dress to the 67th edition of the Venice Film Festival and she immediately came under fire by commentators who said “12 years old in high heels, makeup and a mini. Disgusting. Her parents are insane… She is dressed way to inappropriate for a 12 year old.

The dress is too much for her age, and the shoes are too high.”

She was joined by her costar, Stephen Dorff, and the director of the film, Sofia Coppola. It certainly was a change choice of dress for someone so young. She could look good and dress appropriately for the event without having to expose so much skin at such a young age.

Some have called her dress inappropriate, while others have defended her by saying that she carried herself well. It will be interesting to see how her parents and her sister respond to the allegations in the coming days and weeks.
