Giorgio Armani Spring Summer 2011 – La Femme Bleue Show Milan Fashion Week – “La Femme Bleue” was the name of Giorgio Armani’s spring collection, which saw a close to Milan’s Fashion week in style. Armani is known for his elegant styles, restraint in his creations and the discipline he uses with his fashion, and the designer did not disappoint.

This year’s collection was inspired by the Tuareg people of Saharan North Africa, whose traditional blue indigo robes are extremely distinct and share with us a culture rich and ancient. One colour was prominent in this collection, blue, and this was explored, dissected and then explored some more by Armani.

This season, much of the style is longer length fashion, and Armani utilised this in his collection. Fitted, ankle-skimming skirts and tapered trousers were on show, adding an element of class, style and grace. On top were matching jackets, which just added to the class and style on show. One of the models came out cropped and fitted, woven from glossy satin strips; another was a snug bandleader style with covered buttons; and a third, fitted through the waist, came in a matte silk.

Armani showed his elegance and calls, especially in the gowns that were on display. This new collection, which signalled the end of Milan’s Fashion Week, showed that beauty can be created by the right eye.
