Isabelle Caro Died: Anorexic Model (Photos)
Isabelle Caro was a French model and actress from Marseille. Caro suffered from severe anorexia nervosa, a disorder associated with an obsessive fear of gaining weight.
The disorder usually also leaves the victim with a seriously distorted self image. Caro had suffered from the disorder since she was 13-years-old, stating that she had a very troubled childhood.
Caro was first hospitalized in 2006, when she slipped into a coma. At the time, she only weighed 55 pounds at 20-years-old.
She was featured in an interview on C4’s Supersize vs. Superskinny in March 2008. Caro was later interviewed on Jessica Simpson’s The Price of Beauty.

Simpson spoke to Caro about how so many fashion models have become obsessed with being skinny. In the interview, Caro warned other girls about anorexia.
Caro was best known for her appearance in an Italian shock ad. She was photographed nude, exposing a near skeletal body. Caro has long been struggling with health problems associated with anorexia. Caro died on November 17, but the news was not released until December 29 when her acting instructor Daniele Dubreuil-Prevot told the Associated Press. Her last known weight was 73 lbs. She had been in the hospital for acute respiratory disease.
