Madonna Material Girl Clothing Collection Sued – The song “Material Girl” was one of Madonna’s biggest hits in 1985, and the subsequent fashion collection that is aimed at teenagers has come under fire in recent days. The clothes were designed with the help of her 13 year old daughter Lourdes and was launched at Macy’s in New York earlier this month.
The clothing line has an 80’s feel about it, and it has received quite a bit of media attention in recent days. The clothing company La Triumpth is taking her to court now, claiming that they have been using the Material Girl brand since 1997.

TMZ was able to obtain documents that show that the company is accusing Madonna of creating “deception” in the marketplace. It seems to be a little far-fetched, considering Madonna clearly named the clothing line after her own popular song and was obviously not attempting to steal their brand from under them.

They have asked the judge to prohibit her from using the brand name, and said that they would like all of the profit that the brand has generated thus far. The company claimed that they had been selling similar clothing at similar price points since 1997, and that Madonna’s version was a clear knock off.
“Madonna and her new-found company do not have the right to trade in the same space under this brand,” The company said.
