“I don’t know that I dealt with it any specific way. I mean, it’s hard enough going through it personally within your family, let alone when the entire world knows about it.

On protecting her parents:

“The jeans are my favorite part of the entire line. Because, like, literally this is going to be good for, like, Middle America, and it will be great for kids that really want to be in fashion but that don’t have it available.”

On the difficulties of being a teen star:

“It’s hard for all of us. There are so many people that could be using you. So me and Nick and Demi, we don’t need anything from each other. We got our own thing going on.

“The truth is I’d just like to pretend that it [the money] doesn’t exist. It’s amazing how many children are aware from such a young age about money being important or supposedly impressive. Around the age of 13 or 14, kids used to come up to me and say, ‘You the girl on Harry Potter? How much do you make?’”

“I do panic before I have to wear a really skimpy outfit, but I don’t have enough willpower.”

On never going the gym:

“I have never worked out, but I know you feel better when you do,” she says, “so I am planning on getting a trainer.”

On her boyfriend and co-star Penn Badgely’s body:

I’m naturally blond, but since my hair was bleached at the time, the dye soaked it up quickly and turned it green! I didn’t cry, but I thought, I’d better get this part. Fortunately, my roommate back then was a hairdresser, so he helped me fix it!

Is the color hard to maintain?

My hairstylist dyes it for me every couple of months. It looks even darker on the show, the way they style it and clip in extensions. Sometimes, when my roots are coming in, they’ll spray brown color on them to blend it. I’m a little serious, so I actually feel that being a brunette matches my personality more than the stereotypical blonde.
